Sterk lay covered under a small snow drift. He was tired, and his fur was matted and dirty from dried blood and other debris in his coat. He looked pitiful as he lay there, his eyes drifting shut every now and then, but he would quickly jerk and open them back up, making himself stay awake. He was disoriented and most importantly, alone. He didn't know if he was in enemy territory or if he was close to friendly and open territory. All Sterk knew was that he was wet, shivering, and tired. Sleep was a distant memory for him. It had been three days since he last slept any decent hours at all, and even then, it was only a measly three hours at best.

When he heard distant howls, he lifted his head and squinted, trying to see if there were enemy wolves approaching him through blurry eyes. Nervous, but too tired and injured to move anymore, he would have no choice but to try and stand his ground should they turn out to be enemy wolves. To ready himself for possible combat, he tried to stand once, but failed before he finally found his footing in the deep Russian snow. His legs were shaky, but he was standing at least. His tail and ears went up in a neutral stance for the time being. "Hello? Who's out there?!" he called lowly, his voice hoarse from being outside in the harsh Russian winter for going on six weeks now.

Vech wandered in the snow that seemed to be coming down harder than she had first thought. She had come out to run border patrol for the pack since another wolf was currently out due to injury. It was quiet enough, she hadn't seen even a fox pass by or birds chirping, it possibly meant other predators nearby but something pushed her on. She threw her memories back to the time she had spent in Sterk's pack, it was interesting but she felt like something was off the whole time, besides the discrimination that is. Wandering further she could see blood in the snow, she comes closer to pick up the scent and her eyes widen. Sterk. She points her muzzle skyward and lets her pack know she and a friend may be in danger. She picks up his scent along with a couple other wolves before following and calling out to her friend. She travels a mile or so before coming across a beaten and bloody Sterk standing but obviously it was will alone keeping him alert right now. "Sterk? What's happened? We need to get somewhere safe and warm, please let me help." She knew he might be defensive since he seemed really hurt and they hadn't spoken for a few weeks, but she had to try, she just hoped he wasn't too out of it with how long he seemed to have been hurt and in the full force of winter's grasp.

At first, his ears shifted back and his tail stiffened as he let out a low growl. A warning, nothing more. It took him a moment to catch Vech's scent in all of the snow and because his vision was so blurry, he had to rely on smell and sound alone. "Vech?" he questioned hoarsely. "I'm sorry...I didn't recognize you because of all of the snow..." he apologized lowly as he sat down in the snow and shook his head as it swam from the amount of movement and strength he was using. He was running on will power, and even that was starting to give.

"It's a story I'd rather tell once I've gotten some food in me and I'm in a warm and safe place..." he answered her as he slowly moved his head to keep it from swimming once more. His crimson gaze was glazed and sleep hazed. He could only see the blurry form of the dire female before him so he looked sadly, if not pitifully at the figure. "Sorry...but I don't think I can move on my own anymore...would you mind helping me?"

She shook her head she had expected as much, he was severely disoriented and probably hadn't eaten or slept well in days. What was worse he smelled like his pack not like unknown wolves or predators. "It's fine I know the pack keeps a cave around here for if the hunters or patrol need it, it should have food and water and the makings for fires and beds. Just keep talking to me and don't fall asleep." She carefully shifted him onto her back as best she could without hurting him and started making her way to the den that wasn't too far off, thankful that the pack had listened to her when she suggested establishing them for future needs. She swiftly but cautiously made it to the entrance stopping only a couple of times to readjust and check direction. He was shockingly underweight from when she had met him last time. She laid him down gently and swiftly changed to her human form to start a fire for the both of them and to grab medical supplies and food and water. "Just hold on for me for a few more minutes Sterk, I also need you to change for me, I need to clean and bandage you." She was so worried, she had been thinking of him since she had left his pack, she had missed him dearly and this was a very bad way to find a friend.

When he was lifted, or even touched slightly he yelped in pain, but grit his teeth if for no other reason than to get into a warm place and get some food. He had whined lowly a few times when Vech shifted him around on her back, but had did as she had instructed and tried with what remaining will power he had left in him to stay awake and conscious. When he felt the sudden rush of a small amount of warmth from getting out of the weather, he felt his body relax a little. If it was from the relief of being in a safe place or from being so tired he couldn't see straight he had yet to determine.

When he was sat down, he wheezed a little as a sharp pain went through his front left leg. Probably broken. He hadn't had the time to take care of himself let alone perform suitable first aid on himself. At her instruction of needing him to shift into a human form, he looked up at her as best he could through those blurry eyes, his head teetering a little as he looked at her, or more to the point, in her general direction. "I'll try my best..." he answered hoarsely as he put nearly all of his remaining strength into shifting into his human form. He only barely managed to make it to the half and half state. While he still had ears and a tail, the rest of his body was human. At least he had tried to finish the transformation. He just didn't have the strength. "This is about as far as I can go...hope you don't mind..."

"No this is great please just try to stay awake, I'm sorry I keep asking that of you I just.... I want you to wake up again, please. I'm going to mend some things so it will be painful I'm sorry I also need to heat food for you and I." She got up and made the fire first, putting on the icy cold water to heat and food as well. bringing over the medical supplies she cleaned his cuts some being deeper than others and needing a few stitches a particularly nasty one along his left leg and along his ribs but what was more important was his left arm she could feel the clean snap right before the bone met his shoulder thanks to some earth magic and the minerals in his bones. thankfully the only thing that needed to be set was his shoulder, it needed to be popped back into place, unfortunately, that happened to be his broken arm as well.

"This will probably hurt, I'm so sorry" without much more warning she quickly popped it back in and the made him a cast quickly and brought together some pain meds while she bit her lips at his pain, resetting shoulders hurt enough that had to be horrible, but it wouldn't heal right if she didn't, it made her both want to cry and rip the throats out of those that would dare touch her friend. "I'm so sorry Sterk, it would have hurt more if you tensed, here take some of this while I get the food off the fire, it won't help much as it pains me but it should take the edge off." She went about handing him the cup of green liquid that would help and getting them both some of the food and barely warm water.

He nodded slowly and shakily as he barely was able to see her figure hovering just above him. Even in the safety of a temporary den he was unable to see. His hair was wet and dirty. Strands of it clung to his forehead as he felt the sudden surge of pure agony as it swelled into a yell of pain. That had been too sudden for him to react aggressively, but it hadn't been quick enough to keep him from screaming in pain. When the pain had subsided enough for him to try and sit up a little, he propped himself up a little on a nearby bedpost and drank down the green liquid in the cup. He coughed and gagged a little, but forced the medicine to stay down. "Some fine mess I'm in..." he said lowly as he kept his blurry gaze fixated on the floor of the den they were bunking down in. "This isn't the idea I had in mind when I said I'd be free..." he breathed lowly as he forced himself to keep staying awake and as aware as he could possibly hope to be for the time being.

"I must seem pretty pathetic to someone like you..." he said lowly. "A stray bunking down with a pretty princess...no wonder they hated me..." he said, snorting snidely at his own words. He would hold this grudge in his heart for a long time. He was certain of it.

"Enough, you are not pathetic, you are my friend and one of the only people I can trust besides my parents, I don't know what I would do if it weren't for you. I would have gone absolutely crazy somedays. Please I care about you, you are not and never will be, not in my eyes. Here, I have food, your so thin your ribs are showing." She smiled at him and brushed hair out of his face while she spooned some of the soup up to help him. It looked like he was snow blinded, but that would correct itself with rest and low lighting.

"Did you leave the pack you were in... Or were you ran out." She was honestly curious after what he said, it would make sense for him to be this injured if they had ran him out, but how the hell was he able to make it alone AND injured? she continued petting his head and feeding him, she could eat later, she would be watching after all.

He looked at her as she gently scolded him for saying he was pathetic. He felt so lost. He was finally free from a pack that hated him except the alpha male and female and their pups, but it hadn't happened the way he had planned. How could he bring himself to tell Vech that it was because of her that he was kicked out of the pack by force? He wasn't sure he had the heart to do it. He ate a little, but paused a while to answer her question about if he had left or if he had been removed. "I..." he stopped as if to think about his answer carefully and sighed as his ears lowered, flattening on his head. "I was forced out." The answer was simple enough, but he knew she'd question why and how.

"Two days after you left and returned home, I was ambushed by the hunters of the pack. They got me out alone and turned on me...I knew it was only a matter of time before they pulled some kind of stunt like that, but I hadn't been prepared for their reasoning. I believed it was because of my bloodline or my eyes...but...I was wrong..." he explained lowly, hoarsely. "Their reasoning for attacking me, and trying to kill me, was because they wanted to try their hand at mating with you as your alpha male...and they thought that in order to increase their chances, they'd have to kill me first...luckily, the storm blew in before they could finish the job..."

She snarled, Something so feral sounding even she hadn't known she could make it. She wasn't upset with him or even herself, her position and his were things that couldn't be helped and they had to have known better in all. No, Those hunters had no chance, she chose not by strength alone but with how you treated others and the overall spirit you present. They were unworthy of even being given a chance if their hearts are so wicked she could see it when she was there and barely knew them.

"They had no chance even before I left, they do not have what it takes, I knew they were only after power one of your hunter just oozed it. No, I pick a met for other reasons besides power, and I will not mate if I do not love them. They had no chance before or after I had left even less so now. Believe me, I may seem very carefree but you do not become an alpha without having both intelligence and strength to back you up, I noticed it was not the alpha that went after you, good, I didn't think he had he was a good man. I'm sorry you are hurt because of my position if it could have been different I would have liked for that to happen..." She stopped and stared down at him while she talked, he was someone she could trust she just wished she hadn't put him in danger and now he was without a pack.

He shook his head at her reaction. "Even if they hurt me, I won't condone you going after them Vech...It's my grudge to hold, not yours..." he told her lowly. His words, though they were promising of wrath for the wolves who attacked him, were still gentle and warm towards her. He wouldn't treat her like some petulant child, nor would he try to command her as if she were his subordinate. "This didn't happen because of you, you know. This happened because I was careless," he told her as he sat there, propped solidly against the bedpost. "If I would have been smarter about things, I wouldn't have been put in that situation. I let my trust of a few of the hunters get the better of me, and I suffered the consequences..." he told her hoarsely as he smiled weakly up at her.

"For the time being, let me be with your pack. Please?" he requested lowly. He wasn't healed enough to be out on his own, so he had no choice but to rely on Vech's pack. If they turned him down, he would understand. Inviting another male wolf into their pack was hard to do, especially when he wasn't very familiar to any of the other pack members. "I know it's a big request. If you say no I'll understand...I'll just use this den until I'm healed and I'll leave when I'm able to..."

She sighed and smiled down at him and shook her head "That's not a question you have to ask, you are more than welcome to stay with us, my pack is more than welcome to my friends. As for the wolves that attacked you, I'll let you deal with them, however, if they are on my pack's grounds aggressively  I do have more than a right to run them off. I won't harm them but they need to be careful on my pack's territory." She untensed her shoulders and moved slowly to get up, she went to the side for some blankets and furs, while not modest the furs would do them some good in keeping warm through clothes would have to come later.

"Here this might help a little, and some water. How are you feeling now that you've been able to adjust for a little bit, os there anything bothering you body wise besides what I patched?" She stroked his head again, he really was very sweet.

He covered himself up as much as possible, curling into the furs and blankets as much as he could. "Thank you Vech. You really are a wonderful person," he said as he could finally make out her face a little. His eyes burned from lack of sleep and the wind and snow, but he was finally able to see, if only a little. "I'll agree to that since you agreed to my terms...but if they cause trouble for you, and I'm able, I make sure to stop them..." he told her as he shifted to settle into the furs and blankets more comfortably.

At her question, he felt the heated blush creeping into his cheeks. "To tell the truth, I don't have any more injuries, but this is certainly a new situation for me. I've not exactly been so exposed before. Not to mention the fact that I've not really been in the same room as a woman without any clothes on for so long before..."

She blushed but shook it off he had needed help and they didn't have much choice. It's not as if they were groping and such... Her mind wandered off down the path a ways before she caught it and the bright blush that spread once again. "Think nothing of it, you needed my help and I won't deny you your fight... As for the clothes, we don't have much option and I trust you, you wouldn't do anything unless asked, you are a good man Sterk even if you don't believe it all the time. I'm going to take first watch tonight and change, if you need anything don't hesitate to ask me." Vech got up and changed back into her wolf form then positioned herself at the entrance with her own food and water, Letting Sterk rest while she waited for dawn.

Sterk looked down at his now covered knees and blushed a little brighter. "No, no...I didn't mention it because I thought you would think I'd do something to you..." he assured her. "I mentioned it because I'm not normally in these situations...normally, if I'm with a female, I'm a fumbling, bumbling idiot...this stage...isn't usually reached. The fact that you aren't even my partner and we're here...it feels odd and it's embarrassing for me because I'm actually a really awkward guy...and I'm rambling...I'll shut up now..." he said as he finally forced himself to stop talking and put what little energy he had regained into standing up and moving into the bed he had been propping himself up on.

He turned his back to her and covered his head. God he was an idiot. What the hell was he babbling about? If he didn't look like an idiot to her before, now he really looked like an idiot. He was nervous over being naked for crying out loud! It was the same thing when he was in his wolf form, so why the hell was this such a problem? Even if he wanted to stew in his own embarrassment longer, he felt the lack of sleep setting in once more as his eyes began droop and get heavier until finally sleep had taken hold and he was breathing deeply as he was wrapped up heavily in the blankets and furs.
