A Confusing Day.... (Open)

A light breath and sweat beating down her brow. A sharp movement and a flick of the hand. These were the basic movements of Mia Hikaru the adopted daughter of Hajime and Miyuki. Today was her birthday 20 years old. She has steadily mastered her powers, she no longer has to worry about a blue flame suddenly wrapping around her eye.

She owed her skills to her adoptive mother training her mind and helping to increase her confidence. She also had to remind herself to thank her father for training her in the martial arts. Her physical and mental body were in balance and that made it easier to use her magic. Having a mind that keeps in constant control and a body that can handle intense punishment made it to where her focus was not easily broken.

She walks up to a noodle stand and got herself an order of cup ramen. "Happy Birthday to me." She walked along the park sidewalk for a few minates while she ate and then proceeded to sit on a bench. Her long, silky, black hair reached about to the center of her back and her red mid-drif flapped lightly in the wind as she walked to the bench. She listened to music on her phone while she waited for her mom and dad to come pick her up for dinner.

He had been coming here a lot lately. The sights, sounds and smells all made for an interesting, but peaceful break from his chaotic daily life. A few moments peace was usually all he could afford, but it was these moments that he found himself coming to terms with who and what he was. These were the moments in which he didn't completely and utterly hate himself and they were precious in ways he probably wouldn't be able to explain to anyone else.

Mujo sat under a tree with his scythe, strumming a calming melody as he kept his guitar case open, whether it be for passersby to toss their change into it or not even he wasn't sure. His vivid red hair caught the sunlight just right from time to time as he bobbed his head slightly in time to his own music. He was dressed in a red kimono style top with black jeans. A style that had changed lately as a means to blend in more with the humans. Even so, he still wore his trusted MADD around his neck. The skull dangling from the prayer beads would bounce against his chest from time to time as he moved. And he hummed lowly, seeming to string together words to the song that he himself didn't truly know just yet.

Mia sighed as she enjoyed the song she was listening to. She stood up from her seat and walked slowly to the trash can under the tree where some guy was playing a guitar. He looked strange sitting there with a kimono styled top and black jeans, not your typical fashion style. What was the most strange was the essence of magic she was sensing off of him. It seemed extremely strong almost like a magic unknown to your average mage. It was like he had obtained a new height in the world of magic. It only took her one look to figure out his magical capability was much greater than her own.

She walked up beside him and tossed her cup into the trash can and then started her way back to sit down. She stopped for a second to let some kids pass by. She looked over at the man and smiled at him as the kids passed. She tossed a yen into his guitar case.... "Not a bad tune."

A smirk spread across his features at the sound of a female voice. "I always make it up as I go along. Its not very often that I play a real song written down by anyone," he said as he opened his dull gray eyes to look up at her from where he was sitting. "You don't seem to be the type to be concerned with my guitar skills. If you ask me, you're more the type to be sizing me up right about now," he said and stopped strumming and sat his scythe down, letting it lean against the tree as he stood up.

He wasn't seemingly threatening at first appearance, but looks were very deceiving. He was a six foot, 130 pound man, but he had a look to him that told of a danger that lurked just under the surface. His eyes, while dull in color, held a psychotic gleam to them and his smile wasn't the type to calm anyone down. Rather, his smile was the type of smile that sent shivers down your spine and made you feel like you should back away rather than get closer. These things came together to create a man who looked similar to a monk, but one who clearly spelled danger.

She laughed lightly at his sizing up comment. She wasn't really sizing him up but it was a slight observation. She turned to face him and as she did the wind caught her hair forcing Mia to push it behind her ear. "Not really sizing you up or anything like that but I did notice the kind of power hidden in you. Then again any other mage of any kind probably could. My father often tells me about powerful people that I would be able to sense from just about anywhere. Reapers, Ancient Vampires, Alpha or Dire Wolves and more. Then again when your father is an Ex-Hunter you hear a lot of paranoid warnings."

She laughed lightly wondering why he suddenly decided to stop playing. "Don't stop playing you have people listening." Mia smiled at him and pointed to some kids that were listening too...

He chuckled and shook his head. "I knew you smelled familiar for some reason. Only Ex-hunter I know is Hajime. Somehow people that are close to him always seem to find me," he said as he looked at her and then over at the kids and shrugged. "I don't play for them to listen anyway. I play for myself," he admitted as he shifted his weight to his left leg and his geta sunk a little in the soft grass.

He reach for his scythe and lifted it up from against the tree and slung it over his shoulder. Standing like this always made him more comfortable, as if his scythe were a second layer of protection. "My power isn't nearly as great as others. I'm proud of my strength, but I'm not over confident. I don't hide my strength, it just has a way of deceiving people."

Mia thought that saying that and refusing to play was a little mean but then just let it go it was his decision to do that anyway. She smiled at him and laughed at the mention of her dads name. "You know my father? Well that's no surprise it seems like he knows everyone, though he tries to hide from them it's like they hunt him down. My name is Mia. I'm pleased to meet you." She stretched her hand out to shake his but she was just a little weary of him, she sensed danger and death radiating from him.

Her mother warned her about these senses and said to never anger anyone giving off the feeling he is giving off. The intense magical power she is sensing told her that he is not a wizard or sorcerer he is something much much more powerful. She wondered just whether or not he is a Reaper. That's the feeling she was getting, she didn't know why but that's what she thought.

"Your father is convinced that I don't like him. Funnily enough, I really do like him. I think he's confused by the way I show affection...I only act like an asshole to the people I really care about," he said and chuckled at his own thoughts.

When Mia moved and extended her hand towards him, he looked down at it as if somewhat in contempt of the outstretched hand. Reluctantly, he reach out and took her hand. Letting people past his defenses wasn't something he liked to do at all. "Mujo So," he replied, answering the question that lingered in the air, but was never spoken. "When it comes to finding your dad, I don't really have to try very hard. I just have to listen for the cry of his soul."

Mia blinked then laughed at the comments of her dad being stupid again. She smiled at him and then blinked at the mention of the word soul. "Soul magic? That's only reserved for reapers or small bands of black magic users." She looked at him a moment then chuckled lightly. "So you are Mujo mom told me there was a man named Mujo that made her laugh because dad feels on edge around him."

She tilted her head lightly. "Mujo-san if you can find him so easily can I ask a favor? How far from here is he? He is supposed to pick me up but he is about fifteen minutes late." She smiled at him and hoped he would do it but if not she would just blow up his phone again just like last time.

"I wouldn't consider it soul magic. It's actually a natural ability all Reapers have," he explained as he let go of her hand after shaking it. "Black magic users got their ideas by copying us. Though it's no where near as accurate as ours." Mujo shifted his weight to his right foot and shifted his scythe from his left shoulder to his right. Nervousness wasn't nearly as obvious with him as others.

"Don't call me san. I'm not into Japanese formalities. I don't think Hajime would appreciate me using my abilities to find him. He's already so painfully wary of me. I don't want to give him any more reasons to be concerned about my presence," he told her as he looked at her.

Mia laughed at his comment of not wanting to find Hajime because of his feeling on edge. "Actually according to mom the only reason he feels on edge is because he is unsure of how to talk to you. He says that you are hard to read and that it is difficult for him to distinguish whether or not you are messing with him." She smiled at him as if to reassure and then sat down under the tree beside him. "Honestly I have never seen dad on edge. You sure are an interesting person. I've only ever seen him show strength and pride."

"How long have you known my family?" She doesn't often meet people her parents know aside from Neikan whose there all the time driving Hajime up the wall. Mia has gotten so used to him she started calling him uncle even though he avoids her.

He sighed and ran his left hand through his hair, a habit he didn't display often. "Hajime's problem is that he thinks I'm always serious. Just because I'm hard to read doesn't mean I have no sense of humor. I can't make it any easier for him to figure me out, then I'd get bored," he said as he looked down at Mia as she sat down under the tree where he had been sitting. "Your old man really needs to learn how to tell the difference between a joke and seriousness"
